I took a long time coming up with a magickal name. I still consider it incomplete and unfinished and will add to it when the answer unveils itself. I recommend meditating and pondering on this topic, ask the Lord and Lady; ask your deities for direction. I feel as one sifts through ideas and inspirations, a name will begin to emerge until you have the "AHA! That's it" moment. Good luck!

My name has changed MANY times over the years as my path evolved. There are many ways to come up with a name you could start with things you like and speak to you on a spiritual level. My very first magickal name was Amethyst Mirage with the "Mirage" being given to me by my first high priest. After his death, I took on part of his name and became Amethyst FaerieKat and dropped Mirage. I was FaerieKat for a long time then I started being called in other directions and the name shifted. About 15 years ago I started using Lilyth. During my elevation ceremony in 2010 I was gifted A'micia (Amicia then) and it remains a part of my lineage. Pinao is Dragonfly in Hawaiian and I am very attached to dragonflies as well connected to Hawaii by family (an aunt is from there) plus a connection to Lemuria.

To find your magickal name you can start with things like favorite color, stone, etc. You could do some numerology on your name too to come up with one that way. You can also, in meditation work with your patron deities to do so. I fyou don't have patrons then perhaps a general shamanic style would work as well.

I had a friend who had her magickl name be her mundane name rearranged a bit. I don't recall exactly how she did it as it's been a very long time. There are so many options and ways to go about it and sometimes we just pick something we like. Here's one way you might find an easy start. Completely made up example. ;-)

Xandria was a shortened version of Alexandria, an Egyptian and Greek City that was known for its library and philosophical study. I work as a library cataloger in a community college. AND I love both Greek and Egyptian deities. So I thought it was a nice combination of things. I shortened it to Xandria because I didn't want people to start calling me Alex, I wanted to be unique.

Later I was delirious with the flu and while lying on my bed I was looking up and out the window at the stars pondering how I could make the night sky a part of my name, since I love so much about the sky at night.... moon, stars, planets... all of it. I very clearly heard a voice say Xandria Nightdancer. I took that to be the goddess giving me my name.

Amicia came after I finished first degree. Lady Lilyth had become a great friend and mentor to me and I wanted to honor that relationship so asked if I could adopt it as my middle name. In French it means Beloved, and in Latin it means Friend.

Mine was given to me. Sometimes you have to wait, someone or something might give it to you. It took several months for me.

"Raushanna" was my belly dance name for several decades. It is Arabic for "sparkling" or "brightly lit." Since I always believed the energy I raised thru dance was sacred, I kept that name as my magickal name. I added the "de Danu" part when I formally dedicated myself to Danu, my Patroness. Magical names have many sources; finding the right name for the right time is part of this spiritual process.

I went through a couple of names, one was FyreRain as I was compared to a volcano lol. Dyrewitch was gifted to me while in Second Life as i met a coven there and it was the first time i ever got to talked to witches or practice magick (loved that i was able to have wands, make candles actually float lol) and much more. It has been the name i go by for many years. I have adopted it as my actual name as well.
