I wanted to take a moment to address the atrocities that are happening in Ukraine and, more specifically, address why you aren't seeing more about it here in our Circle.

First, I want us to take a moment to stop reading and send energy to those who are running and hiding and dying at this very moment. The horror is real and what they are all going through is beyond imagining for most of us. 🇺🇦 🕯️ 🇺🇦

The next thing I want to touch on is why we aren't having an abundance of rituals, posts, magickal workings going toward the support of the Ukraine people who are in dire need of aid. The reason for this is that the majority of us see this everywhere we look and in everything we do right now, it's the predominant thing in the news, in many discussions, and, at least for me, certainly is a constant in my mind and heart. I have yellow and blue candles burning daily, carve sigils of protection on them, and invoke deity to come to their aid. However here, in Sacred Mists Circle, we offer a safe haven, of sorts. A magickal home where we can go to learn, reflect, empower and strengthen ourselves and our abilities as magickal practitioners, and allow us an opportunity to refill the internal wells that are often siphoned dry through the onslaught most of us experience on a daily basis. It's not that this issue isn't at the forefront of our minds!

What I am wondering is if it would be helpful, or useful, for us to create a group that could be joined by any student that focuses on issues such as politics, local and world issues. Understand that not everyone will agree with a person's stance politically and as we probably have all experienced, this often leads to argument and disagreement and disharmony and that's not the energy we want here at Sacred Mists. Respectful discussion would be welcomed but hostility would not be. My personal thoughts are that we keep this off the table because it rarely works out that everyone can agree to disagree, however I'm very willing to give it a try so that we have a place where we can discuss the issues and challenges that the world is facing.

Sending each and every one of you love and blessings, and sending strength, protection, and love to the people of Ukraine.

I think having a "safe" place for this type of discussion could be really an incredible thing BUT adn this is a huge thing we have seen in groups on other platforms is that the safety of the rules of no hostility, no bashing, and beyond does become incredibly difficult to manage.

We are all spiritual people with many of us being empathetic. We want to help and we want to bless others and when we find a bit of disharmony in our space we fight that by trying to enlighten to our thought process and sometimes that just creates more disharmony.

I would loving having a space to share energy and discuss the happenings of the world but I truly worry about how that changes the energy of "safe space," I don't have the answer but would be willing to give it a try if the consensus wants this type of conversation space. I'm kinda rambling
and uncertain but open.

Unfortunately I have watched families stop speaking because of different view points in matters discussed here in this post. People become so wrapped up in their own opinions that they are unable to be open to someone that views things differently, so I feel a board like this would only divide us, which is not what we want here. People often see their way as the only right way and don’t realize that through life experiences we will never see things completely the same, and that is actually a beautiful thing. I can say I left a group a few years back because I was bullied for my difference of opinion on a subject, when trying to explain my reasoning I was told to seek counseling for my grief, which wasn’t my point in being open and trying to explain why I saw things differently. It was a group I had once participated in very frequently and was hurt by the way I was treated and I’m not one that gets my feelings hurt easily but people became very cruel. Side note I have a friend that lives in Ukraine right in the capital city, everyday I go looking to make sure she has posted to know she is okay, my heart is breaking for these people enduring this war that we will most likely never understand, but then again when is war ever understandable. My grandfather lost his entire family duringWW II, and spent 6 years as a prisoner of war, it’s hard to wrap our heads around how people can see war as be necessary, but unfortunately humankind has a history of such things. Just remember when it feels like the world has fallen completely, times have been worse in our history and still we prevailed as we will again.

I am personally not a fan of having politics or world issues make a strong presence here in SMC. Past history has shown it to become difficult, divisive, and painful, just as Sorcha has described with her experience with another group. It is my belief that it is when we can find common ground that we become stronger. My experience is that what starts out as being a wonderful way to come together ends up devolving when the spark of dissension is lit after a more controversial discussion begins. Essentially, once you open that door it is difficult to close and can rattle a cohesive working group to its very core and splinter it into a hundred painful pieces that simply cannot be repaired.

I would love this as long as we can all agree to disagree at times.... we all know that love is in our hearts. But debate and/or good conversations can open many doors.
