Maybe you have a god or a goddess that you feel called to or interests you ? Then you can use web search or books to synthesize / centralize what you can gather about her/him. If not you could start from something you like or try to work on and find a deity associated to it ? Meditating or concentrating on an image of the deity can be a good idea also. You can access your assignment to get an idea of what is expected from you and follow the questions starting from the point where read "from this question and on we will adress your deity focus". It's basically about correspondences, ritual constructing and your own experience with deity. Hope it helps you.

I think I understand part of your concerns. At first, I was befoggled with finding out corresponding stones, foods, Sabbats, etc. and spent a lot of wasted time on the internet. I quickly hit upon a terrific source book that I recommend for your consideration. It is super useful and it streamlines/enhances research and study. Are you familiar with any Deities at all? If not is there a Pantheon that you are drawn to that maybe we could suggest a few names for you to search out. Like what is your own heritage?

I started mine with Cernunnos being the patron God then went to Cerridwen after those I was able find different Deities by thinking of things I like. Along the way you may even find your Patron Deities

When you are first starting out with deity research, I find it's best to start with a god or goddess that sparks your interest. A long time ago the first degree first lesson had a 500 word essay on a goddess of our choice...for that I chose Athena as I was familiar with her and had worked with her many times throughout my young path.

Allow yourself to go down the google rabbit hole of research. there are also tons of great books that have translated myths and information. You may not find EVERYTHING in a book as some don't go over things like perferred aromas and the like. Let your logic fuse with intuition. If you need help with a specific deity, I recommend popping into the first degree group and seeing if others in the course have some ides for you there too.
