Ερμής is Indeed a very important aspect of the witchcraft God aspect that was, through "interpretatio romana" associated and mixed with gaulish Dis Pater, Cernunnos and many others through the epithet Mercurius. The young God aspect of witchcraft is an heritage of this "mercurius" aspect that synthesize indeed youth/rapidity/sagacity/male sexuality and underworld/psychopomp that characterized also some of most important Celtic gods. Raven Grimassi (who worked a long time along Penzack) did a pretty good job demonstrating how Hermes/Janus was actually the Witchcraft God mask of southern/mediterranean witches (Appendix A "The invisible God of Witchcraft" in the book Old World Witchcraft). I think about that while staring at hermai statues populating almost every archeological museum here Greece with mixture of sexual arousing and this "oh so familiar" feeling that such important part of "natural human worship" was lost for too long.
