The New Snow Moon, taking place right after the Sabbat of Imbolc, is about change, hope, creativity, and growth. Nature appears to still be deeply asleep, but hidden beneath the snowy blanket change is beginning and growth is happening.

This is a time to care for the living things within our homes as well, so they may continue to thrive despite the cold and dark. For this Esbat we will focus on the changes happening out of our sight and encourage them to continue growing. We will be using sympathetic magick to create a simple elixir of growth to give our house plants. In feeding our house plants as they survive the winter months, we are also feeding and encouraging growth within us. Do not worry if you are unable to perform the working; I will be creating an elixir for all of us.

You will need:

Ice blue or white tea light, and matches
Oil of your choice to dress the tea light
Clear glass cup, containing a few tablespoons of tap water

I will be invoking the Dark Goddess and Dark God for this ritual. Feel free to call your own Patroness and Patron, if you work with specific Deities. I will be using gestures for Quarter Callings and Deity Invocations. Descriptions are below:

The Gesture of Air and the East: Bring your arms forward and out from your body, elbows slightly bent, palms (at about heart level) facing outward and perpendicular to the floor. Spread your fingers as if searching for a breeze and hold this position. Sense movement and communication.

The Gesture of Fire and the South: Lift your hands and arms fully above your head. Keeping the elbows straight, clench your hands into tight fists. Sense force, power, creation, and destruction.

The Gesture of Water and the West: Bring your arms forward and out from your body, elbows slightly bent, palms (at about heart level) facing upward. Cup your hands, as if you were cupping water. Sense fluidity, the ocean, liquidity.

The Gesture of Earth and the North: Bring your arms forward and out from your body, elbows bent and palms facing downward; touch the tips of the fingers of one hand to the tips of the fingers of the other hand, creating one solid, flat plane stretching from elbow to elbow. Sense solidity, foundation, fertility.

The God Position: raise your arms up and out in a “V,” higher than the top of your head, with arms open and palms facing up and in. Sense the essence of the Sacred Masculine.

The Goddess Position: cross your arms across your heart, with your palms touching your shoulders and hugging your physical body. Sense the essence of the Sacred Feminine.
