Beyond the planetary cycles, beyond the constant shifts of Fate, there is permanence. To contemplate a fixed star in ritual is to contemplate eternity. This alone changes our consciousness, lifting the mind from the temporal into the archetypal. Finally, it means using the stars as a reminder of hierarchy. The human soul, like the cosmos, is structured in levels. The body is like the earth, bound and heavy. The passions are like the planets, moving in cycles, pulled by forces often beyond our control. But the soul's deeper essence, the spark that remembers it's origin, is like the stars. It is fixed, it is eternal, and it is rooted in a light that does not waver. To ascend to the stars in practice is to ascend to our true selves. In the end, the fixed stars are not simply points of light in the sky, they are the primal roots of magic itself.
