Yesterday, while I was outside with the dogs, I noticed what I initially thought were leaves scattered across the yard. Curious to see which tree might be shedding its leaves this early in the season, I walked over for a closer look. To my surprise, it wasn't leaves at all—it was a cluster of large, fascinating mushrooms! They seemed to have popped up overnight, and their size and appearance were really striking, almost like something out of a fairytale.

Thankfully, I took a few pictures of them because when my husband mowed the yard later, they ended up getting plucked. After that, I did a bit of digging with a reverse image search to learn more about these unexpected visitors. It turns out they were just common puffball mushrooms, which are pretty ordinary but still intriguing in their own way.

Seeing them pop up so suddenly reminded me how nature can surprise us with little moments of wonder, even in our own backyard!

Amethyst Moonfire, the tops were a bit squishy, according to Keith. Next time they pop up, I will touch them myself. That way, I can tell you what that texture felt like. lol
