Howdy! I am wondering if anyone has handcrafted their own athame. I'm not even there yet but possibly for the future...and I would love feedback from you crafty folks if you got it!

I plan to assemble one. I bought a sgain dubh blade made of Damascus steel and some bog oak wood for the handles. I'll post pictures when it's done.

Many years ago, I made one out of a piece of petrified wood that I found on a camping/fishing trip up in the Colorado high mountains... It took me a while to shape it using a grinder and roto tool ( in fact it broke twice) but I was finally able to get a 6 inch blade out of it - Wow, I haven't thought about that is years lol. Anyway, just a thought.. I will be customizing one that I just bought on the shoppe - to make it mine - engraving a 5 pointed star and hand marking runes on the handle..
