Happy Sunday to everyone ~
I felt the need to greet everyone as I also feel that I have been somewhat distant here and I guess I just want to explain and possibly get some feedback.
Since I started down my spiritual journey several years ago I have learned so much and realize that there is always so much more to learn along the way. It has been exciting and challenging and I have felt the changes happening in myself (my feelings and thought processes).
While this is great it has also been the cause of some marital stress between my husband and I. He is supportive of me and does not try to hinder me in any way yet there is a clear division between us when it comes to our beliefs (he doesn't subscribe to any faith or spiritual belief).
In my own eagerness and excitement to share some of the things that I am learning and going through he sometimes feels pressured and that causes him to either get defensive or shut me down. At the same time he also tells me that he feels like I am leaving him out if I DON'T share things with him. This has been the cause of several arguments and has left me very confused about what and how to communicate with him enough but not too much.
It sometimes takes my brain awhile to figure certain things out but it finally dawned on me that I need to structure my time better and allow for my own personal time to connect to my spiritual side and then also allow for personal time with my husband that does not involve me talking about all that. Only if he asks about something in particular...
I never thought of this until now because I was trying not to isolate myself from my husband while reading, listening, writing, etc, but now I understand that it is necessary to draw a line between these two parts of my life in order to allow time and attention to each while also keeping the peace, if you will.
I'm mostly sharing this because I know that in my state of mild depression (feelings of sadness, defeat, guilt and anxiety) that I have not been as active on this site nor in completing my current lesson (I've been on lesson 13 for MONTHS).
I bought a new sitting chair to put in the room where I keep my altar table and have told my husband that I am dedicating a couple hours to my spiritual practice every Monday evening or another day of the week if something comes up. I already have private time each morning on the weekends and will also incorporate about a half hour each of those days for more in depth spiritual work as well. He understands that these are structured times but that there are other events that may fall outside of these times that I will also participate in.
I feel that this is a good move in the right direction and to ensure that I do not fall off my spiritual path but that I also do not cause unnecessary stress in my marriage.
Anyway, I feel much better even now just to have shared this. I hope for the best with these changes that I'm making and so looking forward to getting back into the groove!
Thanks to all here that are always so supportive and help to bring my energy up just by being out there!
